Myung-rye Kim's solo exhibition at Baltimore Clayworks

It is such an amazing experience to watch how a person’s history can be so powerful. She went to RISD with me so that I knew how her ideas were brought up. Like many of my friends, she had several different interests which seemed to be separated from each other.

One night, we watched a movie that had actually become her main inspiration later. Since we were struggling with the where-I-am, the evocative movie “Magnolia” showed her an idea of integration like the movie itself. Then, she gathered all the scattered ideas and figured out where she was. It was a year ago.

Her voice is stronger but quieter than before even if she moves back and forth transcending all the moments she’s been through. I saw a clear scenary of her philosophy. The magnolia has just started blooming.
